Creating Spaces

Duration: December 2008 – 2013

Project Description:

Creating Spaces explores the possibilities of multitouch technology for communicating past, present and upcoming events in the framework of art in public space. The project develops a multitouch interface (in the form of a table) with an open and participatory interface to be used as a toolfor constructing face-to-face workshops, as well as a tool in artistic environments to give visitors insight into design and artistic processes. The multitouch interface will act as a permanent hub/link/archive in Z33 – house for contemporary art, and explores the projects that are planned and produced outside its walls, in public space.

This project allows experimentation with playful interaction via table interfaces. It enables research on modes of interaction with multitouch interfaces and facilitates the presentation of projects in a digital map that can be opened up, shared and augmented with additional layers of information. The multitouch table offers an opportunity to open the discourse about art in public space to a wider public.
