Bieke Zaman

Bieke Zaman is assistant professor in Human-Computer Interaction at the Department of Communication Sciences at the KU Leuven, Belgium.

She has a graduated from the KU Leuven in 2004 (summa cum laude), obtained post academic degrees in Usability Design (2005) and Web Development (2007), and a doctoral degree in social sciences in 2011 at the KU Leuven.

As a senior researcher at CUO|Social Spaces – iMinds/KU Leuven, she mainly coordinates projects on:

  • - value-sensitive design
  • - interaction design and children
  • - user experience evaluations
  • - educational game design

Her publications are situated in the domain of Human-Media Interaction, and focus on how to improve empowerment processes to involve stakeholders in the design and evaluation of digital media.

At the KU Leuven, Bieke is lecturing master courses on ‘Human-computer Interaction’ and ‘Usability Design’.
Bieke is a regular speaker at both national and international conferences and events. She is member of several academic editorial boards, and member of international conference committees such as CHI Play, Fun and Games, Interaction Design and Children.
